Welcomes you to
ROOKIE BALL 2019
for boys and girls born in 2010 and 2011
(and experienced players born in 2012 who wish to play up a division*)
Registration fee is $200.00 (This includes a mandatory $50 fundraising fee and a $15 park improvement fee.)
All games will be at Mornington Park.
This is an instructional and developmental program for beginners as well as seasoned players.
Basic skills are developed – hitting from a pitching machine, running bases, catching and throwing. Players are also taught how to "make plays" using simple team work skills. FUN is emphasized at this age. All children are encouraged to try every position on the field. When at the pitcher or catcher positions, proper safety helmets and equipment are provided. Players must provide their own batting helmets and protective cup (athletic supporter). A full uniform (cap, jersey, pants and socks) is provided.
There will be at least 1 home game, 1 away game and one practice a week. Practices are generally on the weekend. There are roughly 20 games per season. Games and practices are 2 hours in length. Players must be at the field 30 minutes before the start of the game. Weeknight game time is 6pm. Team practices start the beginning of May with games starting after May 20. There will be a game on Saturday, June 1 for Opening Day/Picture Day.
On Frank Colman Day, July 13, 3-4 players chosen from each team will participate in an All Star game at Labatt Park.
At the end of the season, in August, there is a playoff tournament that allows every player to showcase the skills they have developed.
